What are Attunements?

The attunements are very precise and can only be transmitted by a Reiki Master. When you feel you are ready to receive the first or second degree of Reiki, you will naturally find the Reiki Master with whom you resonate, without a doubt - its all part of the magic of Reiki. Every attunement affects each person differently, depending on your vibratory level when you first receive them. In other words, if you have spent time doing work to expand your conscious awareness, and have reached a high vibratory level, the attunements will provide a very quick "quantum leap" to an even higher level. To someone just beginning consciousness work, there is also a "quantum leap", but the expansion of energy will be relative to the level that you start out with. The wonderful thing about Reiki is that, even after the "Quantum Leap" which is caused by the attunements, you can still continue to increase your vibratory level and healing capacity by treating yourself daily and treating others whenever possible.

First degree attunements are focused mainly on opening up the physical body so that it can then accept (channel) greater quantities of life force energy. The four attunements of First Degree raise the vibratory rate of the first four energy centers of the body, which are also known as Chakras.

• The first initiation attunes both the heart and the thymus while also attuning the heart chakra on the etheric level.
• The second attunement affects the thyroid gland, and on an etheric level, helps to open up the throat chakra, which is our communication center.
• The third initiation affects both the third eye, which corresponds to the pituitary gland (our center of higher consciousness and intuition), and the hypothalamus, which affects the body's mood and temperature.
• The fourth initiation further opens the crown chakra, our connecting link with spiritual consciousness, and it's corresponding partner, the pineal gland.

This final attunement completes the process by sealing the channel open, so that you can maintain the accelerated ability to channel the Reiki energy for the rest of your life. Thus it is essential to complete all four attunements to keep the Reiki channel open throughout your entire life-time.

Once you are attuned to Reiki energy, you can never lose it. Even if you don't use it for a period of years, when you decide to use it, it will be there for you

While everything that has life has Ki, a Reiki attunement connects the receiver in an increased way to it's limitless source. Upon receiving the first attunement of Reiki 1, the receiver becomes a channel for this Universal Healing Energy.

From the time of the attunement and through the rest of your life, all you need to do to connect with healing Ki, is to place your hands on yourself or someone else and it will flow through you automatically. The attunement, by placing the person in direct contact with the source of Ki, also increases the life force energy of the person who has received it. You will experience an energy that first heals you and then also heals others without depleting you.

The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience. The attunement energies are channeled into the student through the Reiki Master. Many report having mystical and past-life experiences, and increased intuitive awareness. The sensations are definite but very gentle. When asked to place their hands on someone else to bring the energy through, the new Reiki healer may experience for the first time the Reiki characteristic of heat radiating through their hands.

The Reiki attunement can start a cleansing process that affects the physical body as well as the mind and emotions. Toxins that have been stored in the body as well as the mind may be released along with feelings and thought patterns that are no longer useful. Physical health often changes for the better in the months following the initiations.

It takes three to four weeks to adjust to the Reiki attunement. You may feel spacey or tingly, have intense dreams, or experiencing detoxification symptoms such as running nose, or increased urination but you will feel well. What is happening is that the energy is entering your aura and body than you ever experienced before, and your aura and charkas are clearing. After receiving Reiki 1 it is best to do as many healing sessions as possible, including daily self- healing.
